ART & CRAFTs
Balancing traditional art and crafts and its embroidery forms with an uber-modern derivation is the sharp feature of the brand.
Trompe l’oeil prints, baadla-taar applications in a sharp non-traditional language, playing with shapes in bulky sweaters, tailored trenches, sharp trousers, exaggerated turtlenecks is the language the brand speaks in.
“We are constantly exploring the immense scope for luxe pret wear for the global woman by developing modern art forms using the age-old crafts of various cultures from across the globe,” says Nikita.
The collection draws heavily from outerwear staples and celebration wear.
Sweaters, cloaks, coats, kaaftans, abayas, jalabiyas and trenches in custom-made flat knits and ribs create abstract and amorphous shapes for the brand’s line.
These are balanced by sharply tailored separates in premium suitings, rich silks and organic hemp and bamboo handloom fabrics.
The predominant palette of steel, bronze and charcoal is created with baroque and kaamdaani art contrasted by colourful raffia thread work. This creates a high-pret with a dramatic flair which shows the use of various cultural crafts in the brand’s creations.
